2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser Review

The 2009 Toyota FJ Cruiser ranks 11 out of 28 Affordable Midsize SUVs. This
ranking is based on the Auto Press analysis of 63 published reviews and test
drives of the Toyota FJ Cruiser, and their analysis of reliability and safety
data as published by the US NEWS and World Report.
Still attractive, and others find totally hot looking, the Toyota FJ Cruiser
delivers solid off-road performance. If you can deal with what they feel is
a sub-par interior and on-road ride performance, then the FJ Cruiser will still
stand out in a crowd.
When it was first presented in 2007, the Toyota FJ Cruiser wowed critics with
its out-of-this-world looks and solid off-road performance. Some negatives expressed
were the SUV's cramped rear seat, poor visibility and sub-par interior materials."
On-road performance and daily practicality don't match those of less-radical
rivals. It is solidly built, extremely capable off-road, and looks like no other
SUV." For 2009, the FJ Cruiser gains new safety features including roll-sensing
side airbags, active head restraints and an optional rear backup camera, which
we absolutely love! As always, the FJ Cruiser comes in one trim with a V6 engine
and automatic transmission and your choice of either two-wheel or four-wheel
drive.
Some early comments on the 2009 FJ Cruiser....
"This funky reflash of the old FJ Land Cruiser is a rugged and ready off-roader
with look-at-me styling. It has two conventional doors and two rear-hinged mini
doors. The cost of entry may be low, but the crude on-road dynamics of this
five-seater will have you paying in other ways."--
