Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., has just reported
197,424 vehicles sold in July which actually went down
nearly 19% from July of 2007. Probably not the
biggest surprise in the world given the state of the
economy and consumers' need to reduce spending.
The Toyota Division announces July 2008 sales of 175,242
units, which actually dropped nearly 18% from a year
ago. The downslide doesn't end there as the Lexus
division sales decreased by just under 25% from one
year ago.Toyota light truck sales were down 34.3
percent from July 2007. Tundra full-size pickup led
light Toyota truck sales with 13,413 units moved. The
Highlander Hybrid gas-electric mid-size SUV reported
July sales of 1,371 units, which was a 5% increase from
last July. Sequoia sales were up a remarkable 50% from
a year ago, which is surprising given the state of the
economy, but good news nevertheless for Toyota.
